Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Production Engineer Level 1 to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual who is eager to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing across many different industries. Working alongside our experienced production and design engineers, you will contribute to bringing innovative products to market. 

‍This is an onsite position based at Hatch's facility in Waukegan, Illinois, and no relocation payment will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Readiness & Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive production documentation, including CM playbooks, work instructions, drawings, SCI documents, test documents, and programming documents, ensuring all materials are complete and accurate for production.
  • Production Line Setup & Validation: Oversee the setup and validation of the production line, including fixture design and build, station setup diagrams, sourcing all necessary tools and equipment, defining in-process QC points, and ensuring the line is ready for efficient and high-quality product builds.
  • Engineering Change Management: Manage the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process, including reviewing and approving drawings, completing ECN packages, obtaining customer approvals, and ensuring all changes are accurately implemented in production.
  • Production Planning & Execution: Schedule and manage pilot and production builds in Epicor, including setting up the Epicor BOM, parts, assembly, routing, and price structure, inputting sales orders, and coordinating with purchasing to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Vendor & Quality Assurance: Oversee vendor release tasks, including reviewing and approving First Article Inspections, ensuring all vendor parts are released, establishing supplier quality agreements, and managing production quality by reviewing MSA for specific production requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 1-5 years of real world experience 
  • Experience in production documentation and change management
  • Knowledge of production line setup and validation processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in production planning and execution, including experience with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of vendor and quality assurance processes, including FAI review and supplier agreements
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
